HYDROSCAN®  - Introduction

HYDROSCAN - acronym for Hydrocarbon Scanning - is an innovative patent-protected airborne and ground geophysical seismo-electromagnetic technology developed and exclusively provided by GET.
It is based on the well established electromagnetic (EM), induced polarization and passive seismic principles.

The method makes use of anomalous spectral EM field properties related to subsurface accumulations of hydrocarbons (HC) which are therefore labeled by an unique "EM-fingerprint".

Thus, the measurement of this low-frequency (LF) spectral signature enables the direct detection and lateral delineation of HC reservoirs with moveable oil and gas volumes as well as the identification of hydrodynamic relevant anomaly zones.
This unique abilities are not available by other conventional geophysical methods.

In detail the following informations are provided:

• Differentiation between presence or absence of

    HC reservoirs in the underground

• Determination of the Hydrocarbon Productivity
Potential (HPP) as a relative quantity which is in
    relation to the reservoir transmissibility

• Lateral distribution of HPP-values including also
oil/water contact (OWC) or HC/no-HC transitional
   zones

• Indication of reservoir areas and "hot spot"-zones

    of increased HPP-values

• Option of detailed survey within identified reservoir
    areas for depth estimation

HYDROSCAN opens a wide range of highly beneficial usage, from frontier exploration to field extensions, from prospect de-risking to reservoir property mapping, and from optimization of well placement to reservoir time-lapse monitoring.

For all tasks the HC reservoir identification capability includes conventional (anticlinal) traps as well as unconventional non-structural related traps, like HC accumulations in stratigraphic (synclinal) traps.

Extraction and analysis of the exceptional HC- associated seismo-EM signals as well as the development of the required survey instrumentation and processing steps were realized in the frame of R&D projects funded by the German Ministries BMU (Environment) and BMBF (Education & Research).
